"A Good friend is no more"
I sadly learnt today of the death of one of my best friends
Randall Cox aka Cutter, sadly dies in a truck wreck in January 2008
The man was soo full of fun and life and had so much more to give, I am truly grateful for the time I got to spend with him (it usually involved large quantities of alcohol and loud music :). He introduced me to the delights of CFS and texas country music. He invited me into his home and workplace. I am only sad I never got the chance to reciprocate.

The heating was installed, the old rad's, boiler and tanks are all gone. The pipework is now below the floor and the floor has been repaired :)
This in turn allowed the new bathroom to be fitted and then left the biggest headache of all. Redecorating the walls and woodwork. The major part of this, the preparation uncovered some problems with the bonding below the plaster. This meant some filling and plasterwork was required. Eventually it was complete and painting ensued. Just 2 days ago I was able to rehang paintings and allow some sense of completion.
Hopefully next week a new sink will be fitted to match the new oven and hob in the kitchen. Combined with the painting and lighting changes it will look vastly improved.
left to do? curtains and some minor detailing. Should be finished by Xmas. Hopefully just in time for the next round of upgrades LOL (or should that be *sob* ).

Next on the agenda is new heating, I am changing from electricity and oil to gas. The water tank in the attic and the hot water tank on the landing will go and the system will run at mains pressure. Only one tap to turn off when things go wrong :)
The loft eaves were cleared to make way for the rewiring and now have new insulation, and so should be a lot warmer in winter and cooler in summer (if we ever have one).
I hope to have 3 weeks holiday in august and shortly after I return hope to have the majority of the work finished. The house should be fit for a lot of years to come \o/
Now its settling in that I am actually retired and only have one job, what can I say :D
With the time on my hands I set about refining the ch00ns concept, ch00ns.ho66es.com was a mouthful and while it was ok as a url for discussion of streaming audio on the net, it was not much use supporting a stream which it ended up doing. So www.streamtunes.org is now functional as a vehicle for the discussion of streaming audio, and for the Ch00ns stream. Check it out and register to use the forums. Let me know in there what you think (be gentle).
The family tree is going well thanks to the help of my father and daughter, now able to go back 6 generations. Anyway enough idle chat, cya on irc soon.
As I commence semi retirement, life is good to me and mine. I have been spending quality time with my father and sister, something that has been neglected as is usual for those that flee the nest and have a family of their own. A side benefit has been some work on the family tree.
I heard today that an ex colleague took his life last week, my thoughts go out to him and his family. No matter how depressed you are, if anyone reading this is thinking like that, speak to the samaritans, they can help!
For me its time to do some more work on the family tree and sort out my drives. I doubt I will update more often now I have the time, but who knows :)
Time for another update it would seem, and indeed quite a lot has happened that should have found its way in here. The party in July went ahead and while I don't know about everyone else I had a great time. Took some of the guests off on touristy drives the week after the party. The images are all up on fotopic (just follow the link for photographs to the left).
Then it was off to Holland for Megabit 2006 the 1st week in August. As usual a week of fun filll frolics and meeting old friends. Many thanks to all and to Verty and Leonies parents for a wonderful stay.
Now the festive season is drawing close which means a lot of birthday parties, followed by the winter festivities. These are all overshadowed (for me at least) by my early retirement on the 1st January 2007. This will of course mean a big set of changes in my life and lifestyle, but I plan to keep working, hopefully just having more time for family and myself. So lets see if I can squeeze another update in before 2007 :)
At last I am taking time out to do an update on this site, ch00ns is doing great in that it still exists, listener numbers are down a tad but seem stable. Heres hoping the next 12 months
Theres a party at my place on saturday 22nd July.. tho sleeping space on the floor is now at a premium :) its the party season again wahooooooo and then its megabit YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYy
I've had as good a christmas day as can be expected and got some lovely presents from my family. My Bar is now restocked and I have lots of geeky toys to while away the time while family indulges in the rituals
Where ever you are I hope you are having a great time and wish you every success in 2006. I only hope 2006 is as kind to me as 2005 :)
The new Dell 2405FPW screen arrived and I am basking in its radiance, its awesome and a little over whelming, 24"s of 1920x1200 flatscreen :) But I am impressed with it so far and all its features, multiple inputs, pip, usb hub stuff and it still allows a 2nd monitor :)
I am not missing myspace or livejournal although I thought I might, however this maybe is explained by more time on ebay :/

I left the house at five am, drove for 5hrs to cover 230miles. On arrival I fixed 3 pcs, had a bite to eat, drank some coffee and got back in the car at 1pm and spent four and a half hours driving back. Weird, it seemed slower but obviously at speeds approaching 120kph time distorts. Maybe Einstein was wrong and I have discovered a new unified theory?
Suffice to say, I am feeling somewhat tired but accomplished :) and of course slightly wealthier
Ok livejournal and myspace both cancelled, so I guess this it it :)
Who knows I may even update more often though I doubt it, but when I do this is the only place left :) don't blink, you'll miss it
Hmmm do I really need this site and a livejournal? is it worth maintaining both?

Its the end of the road for me, as of this show I will no longer DJ for the Lipstickgirls. Its been fun in the best way possible. I wish them all every success in all their endeavours both on and offline.

Well here it is www.ho66es.com after many years of free hosting I have had to move my old server to retirement. So here goes with my personal site. Next is my main domain :).
After spending another day on the site I have managed to make all the pages displaying compliance W3C XHTML and CSS compliant.

After a few days work and a better understanding of my sites structure it is finally getting there, ultimately there is lots still to do :( but Its becoming easier to work on
